Hi my name is Juan. I am a chef, father, husband, and the face behind The Hungry Cuban. I retired as a Firefighter/Paramedic/Captain from the City of Deerfield Beach Florida after serving for 28 years.
I have always loved to cook wether at home for my family and friends or at the fire house for my other family. After retirement my wife encouraged me to attend culinary school. I graduated from The International Culinary School at the Art Institute located in Fort Lauderdale Florida in 2010.
I have always been involved and tinkered with health and nutrition. Shortly after graduating I started, “The Hungry Cuban Personal Chef Service”, specializing in cooking for clients with specific health issues related to food.
To market my personal chef business I attended a local Thursday evening farmers market. I started out making and selling samples of my Latin inspired dishes. One night I decided to bring my Paella Pan to the farmers market and sell servings. Well let me tell you it was a huge hit. I sold out of paella after only 45-minutes. I looked at my wife and smiled as we realized we had something special going on with the paella. For the last several years I have been specializing in Paella Party’s in the South Florida area.
This blog as morphed from a health and nutrition site, to a healthy Latin food blog to now a blog about what I like to eat, EVERYTHING! I just recently obtained a Professional Plant-Based Certification from Rouxbe, an on-line cooking school. So you will get a little of everything here.
I am glad you are here and thanks for visiting!
I am available in Palm Beach and Broward County, Florida for Paella Party’s, but for the right price I will fly to any location
